Who We Are
There are many ways to describe “Who We Are” at Trinity Episcopal Church. Many folks have been here for decades – the church really is their family. There are people who have joined the Trinity community more recently, finding their place in our various activities and making new friends.
Long-time attendees and recent attendees mostly agree, though, that the love among us is very real. We love the gospel of Jesus Christ and the fellowship it draws us into. We love our church. We love our companionship, the feeling that we are fellow travelers on a journey.
We are not all the same by any means, but we are committed to our church family and the encouragement of companionship. Our prayers for each other are very active. Our care for each other is active. In short, our love for our Lord shows in our love for one another. And isn’t that what Jesus says is “the greatest commandment”?
All are included, all are welcomed, in the Name of Christ.
We also want our love for Christ to be seen in our service in the community of New Castle. We seek to be out in the city as much as we can, holding meetings in local restaurants, serving local schools with supplies and clothing, opening our doors to recovery groups, attending local events, participating in parades, and actively praying for our community. This is what Jesus calls us to do – we want to serve those around us as best we can. We want the light of Christ to shine, not just through our beautiful stained glass windows, but also through our support and service to those in need in our area.
As a recent bulletin said: “We continually strive to build God’s Kingdom here on earth through the teachings and example of Jesus Christ. (We) sow seeds of God’s love and ask how we can be Christ in a world that is often sad, dishonest, violent, unfair and unkind. Jesus says each of us should reach out to the world to make it a better place.”
That is who we are!
